Eyes of Discovery Mural
The north wall of the museum is the location of what will become one of the Coachella Valley's major features, the Eyes of Discovery Mural. This unique work of art is made up of over 4,000 nine by nine inch metal tiles in twelve levels of gray. When viewed at a distance you are aware of the entire image, but when viewed more closely, the viewer becomes aware that the image is made up of a myriad of other images. You and your family can become part of this exciting, one-of-a-kind mural!

A Unique Gift - Smiles on Tiles!
Be part of the Eyes of Discovery Mural. Put your child, a grandchild, or your own smile on the “Eyes of Discovery” Mural! Mural Portrait tiles are a wonderful way to:

• Celebrate those around us- birthdays, anniversaries, new beginnings
• Honor those we love- our heroes, parents, grandparents, family members
• Commemorate those who inspire us- philanthropists, community award winners, leaders
• Recognize achievement- employees of the month, scholars, graduates

Here’s How to Get Started
Mural Tile Portraits can be processed in two ways:

• Photo Taken at the Museum- Make a personal appointment with our Mural Program Assistant for your photo to be taken with our digital camera. Appointments can be made to fit you and your family’s personal schedule.
• Photo Provided- Single, head-shot photos of individuals work best. Our Mural Program Assistant can work directly with you on selecting and scanning photos of loved ones. Digital photos can also be emailed for review by our Mural Program Assistant.

Selected and approved photos are then sent to our designers and fabricators who place portraits on the individual stainless steel tiles. This process takes a minimum of 8 weeks. Groups of 50 tiles or more are then installed on the Mural with placement predetermined by our designers. Portrait tiles will be displayed for a minimum of three years from the date of installation.

Mural Tile Sponsor
Purchase a Portrait Tile for a child attending school in the Coachella Valley. This unique program affords children the opportunity to have their smiling face on the Eyes of The Discovery Mural. A Mural Tile Sponsor fund has been established for this purpose and your purchase of the Portrait Tile is 100% tax deductible.
