"Hands-on"
means "Minds-on"!
Welcome educators! The Children's Discovery
Museum of the Desert is the best destination
to enhance and build new skill sets in a hands-on
environment. We are happy to have many children
from the Coachella Valley as well as children
from other locations select the Children's
Discovery Museum as one of the favorite places
to visit on their Field Trips.
In addition to the Museum Gallery Field Trip
program, CDMOD's Community Outreach program
brings hands-on learning activities into educator's
classrooms. Specially developed materials,
based on second grade level math skills, bring
our "Pizza Parlor" exhibit alive!
From measurements to problem-solving the Community
Outreach program is here for you.
This past year approximately 1300 classroom
children have qualified for funding support
toward field trip fees. Scholarships are awarded
to classrooms with: a demonstrated financial
need and priority given to classrooms that
have not had the CDMOD Field Trip experience
before. Through cards and letters we receive
from the school educators and students, we
know we have helped make their school memories
and learning experiences valid.
