The Children's Discovery
Museum of the Desert is a private
non-profit institution founded
in 1986 by a group of concerned
citizens who wanted to provide
an environment where children's
intellectual curiosity and self-expression
could be freely expressed through
play. Their goal was to provide
inventive and interactive exhibits
and programs, which encourage
children to learn about themselves
and the world around them.

MISSION STATEMENT: The Children's
Discovery Museum of the Desert
inspires and promotes intellectual
curiosity and self expression
through inventive and interactive
exhibits and programs. It encourages
children to learn about themselves
and the world around them by exploring
the natural environment and the
community. The Museum serves children
of all ages with particular emphasis
on primary school age children
of the Coachella Valley. The Museum
also serves as a resource to its
community through the development
of special programs and collaborations
with other organizations.
